SOLUMQUE promo video

1838, Iceland, Akureyri volcano erupts. The magmatic explosion spreads panic in the village and devastates everything it crosses, except for something, something extraordinary: a kind of strawberry unique in the world. For hundreds of years it had been believed extinct: the Fragarium Denvala.

1937, a group of geologists studying the land affected by the volcanic eruption 99 years ago discover something unusual inside what looked like a stone, the essence of Denvala Fragarium. This unique aroma had managed to remain intact in-solidified lava wrapped in all that time.

2013, Comme des Garçons purchases the discovery’s rights and capture its essence in a bottle shaped as a stone, and it’s selled as Solumque (lava in Latin).

This work is an exercise performed in an Art Direction class with: Silvia Cairol & Letes Cortés.
